These rules will make or break your group.
(Hint: It’s not content. Or value. Or branding.)

“Think of this as a private letter from one community builder to another.
Here’s what I know now… that I wish I knew at the start.”
Dear Beloved Reader,
Penelope didn’t set out to build a community.
She just had something to say — and figured if one woman listened, maybe two would stay.
So she posted. Heart open. Voice a little shaky. A cup of tea at her side.
A few women stopped by. Asked a question. Shared a photo. Laughed.
And just like that, a room started forming.
Not because she built it perfectly…
But because she made it feel like home.
So today, if you're wondering how to build your own — not just a group or a feed, but a warm little corner of the internet — here are the 10 rules Penelope (and every Womenpreneur who’s done this before) would whisper in your ear:
🪞 The 10 Real Rules of Community Building
1. Lead with warmth, not wow.
💌 Real-world action: Instead of overthinking your welcome post, share a personal story, why you started your business or one moment that changed everything. End it with “What brought you here?”
This instantly creates connection. You’re not teaching, you’re relating.
2. Speak to one woman like she’s sitting across from you.
💌 Real-world action: Write one post as if you're voice-noting your best friend. Literally: “Okay, so I have to tell you what happened in my business this week…” — then press publish.
Your tone shifts, and guess what? People feel it.
3. Make it easy to say hello.
💌 Real-world action: Pin a post that says:
“👋 New here? Tell us:
Where you're from
What you do
What you’re currently figuring out”
This becomes a ritual, and makes your space feel like a living room, not a waiting room.
4. Ask better questions.
💌 Real-world action: Get beneath the surface. Skip the templated prompts.
Instead, ask things that reveal who they are, not just what they do.
Look for questions that invite:
– Self-trust
– Tiny turning points
– Quiet wins or hard pivots
– Personal truths (not business tips)
The best community questions feel like journaling in public.
That’s where real connection lives.
5. Don’t scale cozy.
💌 Real-world action: Celebrate small wins publicly.
“Shoutout to [Name] for hosting her first live! 🍾”
The moment you spotlight someone, others lean in.
Cozy is in the details: names, replies, mentions. Use them often.
6. Be the mirror.
💌 Real-world action: Every week, post a short “real talk” moment. Something you struggled with this week, and what you learned.
She sees herself in you. That’s how trust builds — not through tips, but through reflection.
7. Give them something to do.
💌 Real-world action: Host a tiny “3-Day Check-In Challenge”:
Day 1 → Post your focus.
Day 2 → Share one task you did.
Day 3 → Tell us how you feel.
Micro-challenges get people to do something without needing tech or prep.
8. Answer like a human.
💌 Real-world action: Every time someone comments, reply with more than “love this!”
Say: “That’s such a good point, I felt that last week too. How did you handle it?”
Dialogue builds relationships. Not just engagement.
9. A newsletter is your community’s best companion.
💌 Real-world action:
Start collecting emails early.
Use them to:
– Share updates
– Highlight key convos
– Bring your people back
A community is where you have conversations and a newsletter is where you send updates. One compliment each other.
10. Protect the energy like it’s sacred.
💌 Real-world action: Set this boundary early and clearly:
“No cold DMs, no spam, no fixing each other. Just support, celebration & honest convos.”
Healthy vibes don’t happen on accident. You design them.
Want more? Reply “WARM” and I’ll send a copy-paste welcome post that actually gets replies (no crickets, I promise).
With magic and wisdom,
